As I mentioned in this morning’s post, today is a travel day in Jeffsetter land. When I have connecting flights in Atlanta it’s always a rush to find the gate of my next flight. After I board the flight I find myself killing time before the plane actually takes off. This usually involves reading novels or checking my Facebook feed for something interesting.
While waiting for our flight to leave Atlanta this morning and noticed several friends shared a story on Facebook about a man live tweeting his feud with another passenger on his plane. I clicked through on the story to see what it was all about and could not help but empathize with the situation the man faced.
He was delayed on a flight to see his family for Thanksgiving. Presumably, the rest of his plane was delayed from seeing their families as well and there was nothing anyone could do about it.
Except for a woman who decided to make it known that she was being inconvenienced most of all. After complaining loudly, treating airline professionals with contempt and being an all around asshat, another passenger decided that he was fed up with this passenger and decided to give her a piece of his mind.
What follows is an incredible documentation of the exchange by the fed up passenger, a man named Elan Gale (a producer of ABC’s the Bachelor) who took to Twitter to share his experience with the world.
While it starts off innocently enough, by the end of the exchange I found myself literally laughing out loud on the airplane as I completed reading the story. I am embedding the exchange below for your entertainment. Please don’t read if you find sarcastic humor and semi-profane language offensive – You probably would not enjoy the exchange.
For the rest of you, enjoy this hilarious exchange between Elan and Diane… it’s well worth the read.

The guy lost me after the di** reference – totally uncalled for and makes him look like di**. It was funny until then…so many self important people in this world.
I can definitely see that… my sense of humor is a little more juvenile than most so I found it humorous.
Anyone who travels on a regular basis has seen this unfortunate type of airport drama unfold many times. Most people just try and ignore it and stay out of the line of fire. I’m certainly not defending her behavior, but this dude intentionally exasperated the situation to get further reaction out of her… which he did. And how he did it was uncalled for and inappropriate. Doesn’t surprise me that he works in reality TV. Sad. Very, very sad.
It’s a good thing that the flight attendant responded appropriately, as he was quoted in the third tweet. I think it is wise he didn’t deliver the vodka. Although, I wonder if he should have been involved in the note passing… Has anyone heard of airlines giving their flight attendants notice about being particularly careful around travelers since social media became more universal? It’s a good thing the sass was kept between the travelers, if employees got involved it could have been a PR mess.
I’m sure there is some social media training, but like any training it’s only as good as those who choose to follow it.
Children in public. Shame on both of you.
