We’re approaching the end of Q1 2019, so it’s time to register for the Chase Freedom Q2 2019 bonus categories. And, thankfully, Q2 2019’s categories are better than Q1, in my opinion.
As you’ll recall, the Chase Freedom Q1 2019 categories include gas stations, drugstores, and tolls. I mean, come on. There are no tolls here in Hawaii, and who the heck can spend $500/month in gas station and drugstore purchases? I probably spend between $120 and $160 per month on gas and a few more bucks at drugstores.
Q2 2019 Bonus Categories
The Chase Freedom Q2 2019 bonus categories are much more practical than the last quarter, in my opinion. Those categories include grocery stores (not including Target and Walmart) and Home Improvement Stores. Now, for most, spending a ton at home improvement stores probably isn’t going to happen. However, on average, I’m sure most families spend a minimum of $400 to $500 per month on groceries. That’ll easily get you to $1,500 by the end of the quarter.

Even if you don’t (somehow) spend $500 per month on groceries, there’s a lot of flexibility there. After all, these days, grocery stores, like Safeway, sells a plethora of gift cards too. Heck, my own Safeway has Disney, Amazon, California Pizza Kitchen, airline gift cards, and more! And for my Hawaii readers, we all know that local grocery chain, Foodland, is the only place aside from hawaiianairlines.com that you’ll find Hawaiian Air gift cards. So if you find yourself coming up short this quarter, just head to the grocery store and pick up some gift cards.
Chase Freedom Q2 2019 Bonus Categories, Final Thoughts
Yeah, I know gas stations carry gift cards too, but grocery stores have a more extensive selection. And that’s why I think Q2 2019 is so much better than Q1. So, if you have a Freedom card, be sure you register for next quarter’s bonus categories.
