I sure loved our time in Italy. My only complaint was the quality and consistency of the Internet. But that is pretty much my feedback from everywhere that is not 1 Gigabit Internet in San Francisco.
Anyway, this view is from one of many great sunsets in Italy. About a 5 minute walk from our location in Treiso, a gem of a town with 360 views of beauty.
Just a comment regarding the internet in Italy. I was there 6 times this year and got a SIM card from TIM Italia and used it on my unlocked iPhone. I selected the 4G plan with 20GB of data and I had no issues at all using it all over the country. It was amazingly cheap compared to what ATT would charge me and it was plenty fast for what I needed.
My T-Mobile plan hooked me up with TIM Italia too… but for some reason it hasn’t been great. And I should qualify my complaint by saying that the Internet made it difficult for me to upload media/do blog stuff along the way, so I had trouble making updates along the way.
Well be careful since your T-Mobile plan probably only allowed you to use TIM Italia network at very low speeds. I paid no more than 30 euros for their top plan and it was plenty of speed for me to post pictures, have Facetime calls, etc… If you used the free T-Mobile international plan that allows you to use data anywhere in the world then you definitely got the slowest plan possible with TIM Italia. Get an unlocked phone and when you get to a country go to a local store and get their pre-paid data plan. I just did it Switzerland last week and it was awesome.
Good idea for extended visits. I just assumed T-Mobile would do the trick. It did for the most part. Just didn’t really work for multimedia stuff.
