For as long as I have been visiting Northern California, there has been a drought. I must have brought the rain, because this winter there has been a good amount of rain to bring some much needed moisture to the area. While there is still a lot more rain needed, it is nice to see so much green while driving through Marin County in Northern California. This photo was taken … [Read more...] about Beautiful Green Farmland in Marin County
View of San Francisco from Twin Peaks
If you are into urban hiking, you will have a hard time finding a better opportunity than climbing up to the top of the Twin Peaks in San Francisco. Start out at ground level and work your way up about 1,000 feet to get this view of the city. The hike takes a couple of hours to complete, but you will have plenty of time to rest while admiring the views below. If you go in … [Read more...] about View of San Francisco from Twin Peaks
Abandoned Shed Along the Point Reyes National Seashore
Last summer Mrs. Jeffsetter and I enjoyed a weekend hike at the Point Reyes National Seashore just northwest of San Francisco. The area reminded me a lot of the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. Beautiful cliffs, raging waters, and lighthouses for boat traffic. While the day was overcast, the redness of this "shed" - at least that is what I am calling it - really … [Read more...] about Abandoned Shed Along the Point Reyes National Seashore
Matthias Church in Budapest
It's fun to look back at how much progress I have made with photography in the past year. This photo, taken in January of 2014 is a solid representation of the Matthias church in Budapest. But I think I could do better now. Part of it is the camera, part of it is the technique. Part of it is that I wasn't using a tripod and didn't take multiple photos of the same image to … [Read more...] about Matthias Church in Budapest
Sunken Cannon at Saba Rock near Virgin Gorda, BVI
When I first purchased a cheap underwater housing for my Canon point and shoot camera, I thought that maybe it would get used once or twice on my trip to Australia in 2011. It has lasted 4 years since then and traveled to three oceans, snapping thousands of underwater photos along the way. … [Read more...] about Sunken Cannon at Saba Rock near Virgin Gorda, BVI
Storm Over San Francisco at Sunset – February 28, 2015

View of Table Mountain from Robben Island in Cape Town
If you are in Cape Town, the Robben Island tour is something I would recommend for those of you who want to experience a piece of South Africa's troubled past. There are beautiful views of the city from the island, and I managed to take a few photos during breaks in the tour. … [Read more...] about View of Table Mountain from Robben Island in Cape Town
San Francisco Financial District at Sunset
Now that I have been living in San Francisco for 8 months, I can safely say that you have a 50% chance of seeing one of the most beautiful sunsets in your life on any given night. Sunrises and sunsets are so incredible that I often find myself lazily admiring out my window without picking up the camera. "It'll be just as nice tomorrow" is an easy sentiment to take on when … [Read more...] about San Francisco Financial District at Sunset
Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park
Death Valley National Park is beautiful. I didn't realize just how beautiful it was until I reached Zabriskie Point. If you are brave enough to leave your car during the high July heat, a photo opportunity is only a short walk away at Zabriskie Point. … [Read more...] about Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park
Giant Swing at Oktoberfest in Munich
There is no better layover opportunity than Munich during the months of Oktoberfest. You can make it from the airport to the fairgrounds in about 30 minutes and have a beer in your hand within an hour. It's a fun visit for a solo traveler, but I highly recommend bringing a companion to get the most out of the experience. As I was waiting a socially acceptable amount of time … [Read more...] about Giant Swing at Oktoberfest in Munich
