Lake Tahoe. A beautiful place where you can go skiing and hit up a beach on the same day. At least that is what I did as I learned to ski for the first time this winter. Turns out I'm a natural. Kind of like the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. Once skiing wrapped up we drove down to catch the sunset on the lake. After googling locations, we ended up at Zephyr Cove on the … [Read more...] about Beaches of Zephyr Cove in Lake Tahoe
European Alps Emerging Through The Clouds
I can't tell you exactly where this photo was taken, because it was through the window of my plane on the way to Vienna from JFK. I can safely assume it was the european alps, but what country? I have no idea. It could have been Switzerland, France, Germany or Austria. The flight itself was quite nice. Business class on Austrian Airlines. Will have to share that review at … [Read more...] about European Alps Emerging Through The Clouds
Karl the Fog Invades San Francisco at Sunrise
I thought that the fog in San Francisco was just a summer thing. But it seems to come just about any time of the year off of the San Francisco bay. This photo, from January 13, 2015 shows the fog rolling into San Francisco at Sunrise. Notice that only one skyscraper peeks out through the fog, while the rest of the city is covered in darkness. 3 exposures were used to take … [Read more...] about Karl the Fog Invades San Francisco at Sunrise
Napa Valley from the top of Auberge Du Soleil
I once considered getting married at Auberge Du Soleil in Rutherford, CA. But alas, I had to settle for appetizers on their observation deck years later. Maybe not the same as a full-fledged wedding, but the views still beautiful. This is an HDR photo right as the sun started to set on Napa Valley. I love Napa Valley. … [Read more...] about Napa Valley from the top of Auberge Du Soleil
Sunset on a San Francisco Skyscraper
This photo was literally taken through my apartment window in mid-market as I scrambled to capture yet another beautiful San Francisco sunset. The photo is HDR, taken with my Sony A7R camera. The 3 exposures (-3, 0, +3) were merged in photomatix to form this image. Because it was taken through a window and hand-held, the photo is fairly grainy. I like to think it shows … [Read more...] about Sunset on a San Francisco Skyscraper
An Amazing Photo Journey to the Golden Gate Bridge
This past weekend I decided to go a whopping 3 miles from my central San Francisco apartment to hike the coastal trail from Lands End to right near the Golden Gate bridge. I brought my Sony A7R camera along with me for the journey and took hundreds of photos along the way. In the end I was able to take my best photos to date. … [Read more...] about An Amazing Photo Journey to the Golden Gate Bridge

Delta’s Newest Changes are a Net-Gain for Me
Delta has made yet another announcement about the changes to the airline in 2015. Most of the articles I have read on the topic are fairly negative, claiming that these “improvements” to the Delta program are hardly anything to write home about. While they are likely correct that these changes do not represent a major improvement over the programs that Delta already has … [Read more...] about Delta’s Newest Changes are a Net-Gain for Me
How I am Re-qualifying for Delta Platinum Status in 2015 the Cheapest Way Possible
2014 has been a year of transition for me. From my threats to leave the state of Minnesota to avoid an airline to actually moving to San Francisco, life has been one great adventure in 2014. I successfully challenged to United Platinum status, only to realize that I don’t really love flying United. While I thought that United Platinum status would come at the expense of … [Read more...] about How I am Re-qualifying for Delta Platinum Status in 2015 the Cheapest Way Possible
