Somehow this weekend represents my first time ever visiting London. While I’m not quite sure how that has happened, I have been trying to make the most of my trip while spending most of my time working and catching up on sleep.

The trip started out on a Friday evening when I departed Minneapolis at 10:30 PM and flew directly to London Heathrow landing at 11:30 AM London time. I was scheduled to give a speech at 3PM that day, so I’m very pleased that timing worked out. The flight was booked in business class using 100,000 Delta Skymiles, which I wrote about how this was done in February.
After the presentation I hung out with some friends at a local pub, staying up way past my bedtime in order to try and fight off jet lag.

My First Time in London as told through Instagram
After getting caught up on sleep, I have spent the rest of my time alternating between seeing London and getting some work done. Here are a few photos from the sightseeing portion of my trip.

London is an interesting place as a tourist, but I think I would have a better time if I would have a travel companion or local guide, so I’ll make sure to do this next time. The timing of this trip just didn’t lend itself well to planning ahead to meet up with friends before it was too late. Next time!
The other thing about London is that people are right when they say it is cold. It is between 65 and 70 degrees here and everyone is wearing winter jackets. They think I look quite funny with my shorts and flip flops. This is the tropics compared to where I come from, but even I got a little cold today!
Next time you go, pub crawl some of the older original pubs. Ye Olde Cheshire cheese and others around there are amazing. If you need public Trans from there you’ve gone to far.
The picture with the “funky leafless trees” at Smith Square brings back warm memories. That was my high school’s science department on the left roughly where the second car is parked. Glad you enjoyed British beer and the fine weather! :P
Small world! My hotel was about a block away from there.
