Anyone that visits (or lives in) Hawaii knows it’s an expensive place to be. Hawaii is, after all, the most isolated islands in the world. But every year there’s an event that offers up great deals for a great cause: Restaurant Week Hawaii 2016.
Restaurant Week Hawaii, like elsewhere in the nation has restaurants serving up special menus at reduced prices. Hawaii’s Restaurant week, though, is part fundraiser, too. The Culinary Institute of the Pacific is the beneficiary of Restaurant Week Hawaii, which is fitting. The C.I.P., also known as the Kapiolani Community College Culinary Arts Program, is an important part of the local restaurant scene. Many of Hawaii’s best chefs have had stints at the college.

Restaurant Week Hawaii 2016 Participants
A variety of restaurants participate in Restaurant Week. And I’m not talking about casual restaurants only. Some of Hawaii’s best restaurants participate in Restaurant Week. My favorites on the list of participants (in no particular order) include:
- Arancino at the Kahala
- Arancino di Mare
- Forty Carrots
- Japengo
- The Pig and the Lady
- Piggy Smalls
- Sansei
- Stage
- Taormina

Some restaurants even offer points earning opportunities with select loyalty programs. For example, SPG Cravings allows SPG members to earn points for dining at select on-property restaurants without a stay. Hyatt Gold Passport has a similar program, too. Participating restaurants on Oahu include:
- beachhouse at the Moana (SPG)
- Japengo at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki (Gold Passport)
While not a SPG Cravings participant, you could also earn bonus credit card points for on-property spend at Kai Market (Sheraton Waikiki).

And even if your restaurant of choice doesn’t participate with SPG Cravings or Hyatt Gold Passport, all is not lost. You’re still getting good deals on some great eats. Plus you’re helping to support the next generation of island chefs. Points can still be had, too, by simply putting spend on your favorite card, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve with 3x points on dining spend. So if you’re on-island November 14-20, be sure to check out Restaurant Week Hawaii 2016 for some of your dining needs!
