With so much to see, the Road to Hana Rainbow eucalyptus trees can be easily missed.
We blew by them, and I made Mr. J turn around. Yes, we made a u-turn on the Road to Hana.
No parking here, so you just have to pull over on the side of the road, and hope the car doesn’t get hit. Kidding – not about the parking, but about your car getting hit unless you are a bad parker, then you should worry.
Tourists driving by will look at you like, “why are you stopping here” and then just keep driving.
Close to mile marker 7 on your left if you are driving towards Hana (right if you are driving away from Hana), you will find the “painted forest” aka the rainbow eucalyptus trees.

At first, it’s hard to see these unique trees. They may not look like much from the road, or as you start to enter the forest.
But, once you walk closer you will see that Rainbow Brite has thrown up all over these trees.

Enhance.
It was a super bright day. Mr. J needs to work his HDR magic on these photos, and they will look a thousand times better.
I think you could get some great sunset photos here, but then you would have a long drive unless you are staying in Hana.
A few of the trees have ladders. You can pretend you are young or a monkey, and climb up to have your photo taken with the tree.
Here is a dorky one of me. Note, I was not allowed to do anything, but sit.
According to Mr. J, anything but docile movements by me is considered “showboating.” And, if I showboat, then I usually hurt myself.
I would really like to be mad about this statement, but it is accurate 60% of every time.
When we stopped at the trees, it was just us and a couple of teenage girls howling. We did not join in the howling. But, I made Mr. J take a selfie in the tree.
It was also kind of swampy, not sure if it was because of the recent rain or if it is always kind of swampy. I had on flip flops, so my feet were a little muddy after the stop.
I really liked this stop, a short easy walk to have some fun. Well done Rainbow State, well done.
